Key Role For Twiggs in Antartica
When veteran explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes attempts to make the first ever winter crossing of Antarctica where temperatures can plunge to minus 90C, the success of his six-man expedition will hinge on the expertise of steelworkers at Twiggs. The 14 special steel sledges (‘skoots’) that will carry vital supplies of fuel to power the expedition’s two giant caterpillar tracked bulldozers on the 2000 mile epic journey have been designed and built by Twigg’s steel specialists at their works on Bakewell Road in Matlock. In recent years, Twigg’s steel division has won an enviable reputation for its success in fabricating customized structures for use in extreme weather conditions including Antarctica and the Falklands.

Twiggs Managing Director David Allen was delighted to open The Renewable Shop in Tansley earlier this year. We wish them all the best in their new venture.
Twiggs Steel at Matlock Town
Twiggs are delighted that the Twigg Stand at Matlock Town has won best new non-league stand in the country. Twiggs supplied and erected the steel for the new stand. In recognition of Twiggs generosity and support over the years, the stand is named in perpetuity The Twigg Stand.

Our Plumbers Merchants division prides itself on the huge range of plumbing supplies we carry. We stock copper pipe & fittings up to 54mm, with customers from Derbyshire & beyond travelling to our Matlock showroom. We also carry many innovative products such as HEP2O - the premier flexible, push-fit plastic plumbing system for the professional installer.
Plasma Precision Profile Cutter
We now have our new Esprit High Definition Plasma cutter to offer an enhanced profile cutting service. It has a large 6m x 3m bed and can cut up to 50mm thick steel. The machine links to the drawing office CAD system to import profiles supplied by customers in electronic format or designed by us from customer drawings. Please call to discuss your profile cutting requirements.
