Twiggs detail, supply and install steel framework for classroom extension for Creswell Junior School in Derbyshire.
We are pleased to share with you a recent exciting steelwork project at Creswell School which will see the students benefit from a 3-block classroom extension, built on the site of the school playground, to the south-west of the existing building. The structural design was detailed by Twiggs’ fabrication team internally on the Tekla 3D modeling system and the resulting steelwork structure met fire safety standards with a coating of fire protection on the steel beams.
Building works started in November 2017 and aim to be completed by 31 August 2018, with the new classrooms being constructed to be in-keeping with the original design.
Creswell Junior School was designed G H Widdows and opened in 1912. The school has been extended several times over the years, but externally it retains much of its original 1912 appearance (with all development being centered on around the inner ‘V’ section). The school was listed ‘Grade II’ in March 1989.
